Farm Livin'

The quickly-approaching premiere of Downton Abbey Season Two {are you as excited as I am?!} and the hub's and my upcoming weekend away in Virginia horse country have me thinking of all things British and bucolic.

My major goal this winter is to get our house decorated {or at least our bedroom and living areas} and I'm going for the fancy-schmancy British meets Virginia country house look.  Here's what's inspiring me:

Lots of ginghams and toiles,  and lots of greens, blues, browns, and purples.  And LOTS of pheasant motifs.
We're having shams custom made from the green toile {it's Laura Ashley Tally-Ho pattern} and the pheasant pillow already has a place of honor on our master bed.  Now if only I could find the perfect shade of green paint for our nightstands...

I am just sick that I missed Season 1! I tried finding it on my DVR but no luck. So, looks like I'll just start with Season 2 and hopefully find Season 1 somewhere.

Love your English Hunt - Tally Ho inspiration for your bedroom. Very Wills & Kate!!

Happy, happy New Year!

Gawgeous - love the Young Victoria inspiration in particular, as well as the inclusion of Miss Dita (say what you will about her, when she's actually in clothes, they tend to be incredible).

I look forward to the day when I'm in a more traditional house; until then, I'll enjoy living vicariously through your Brit / VA horsey decor adventures.
